4 Months Old

Chase had his 4 month check-up on Tuesday. We went to a new doctor cause we were not very happy with our other doctor (remember the shrinking baby, they have also been billing things wrong trying to charge us for this appointment saying it wasn't a well child check cause they wanted to reweigh him).

His stats:

height 24 3/4"
weight 12 lbs 10 oz

He is just below 50th percentile for height and head circumference (a first for us. All of our other kids have heads in the 97th percentile). His weight was just below the 10th percentile (I was not surprised by this, he is much smaller than my other babies). I think a lot of his low weight is due to his spitting up (which has been massive). The doctor gave him some Zantac which has helped (especially at night) and ordered an ultrasound of his tummy. I don't really think there is anything wrong but they want to be safe.

He didn't do great with the shots. He got really red in the face and cried big crocodile tears. Then that night he broke out in a horrible fever. He was SO hot, even with tylenol. He was this way for 2 days. His legs also seemed especially tender, he would get upset when I would hold his feet to change his diaper. His sleeping at night has not been the same since that fever.

What he is doing:
-Smiling
-Laughing (with some work)
-Standing when he holds your fingers (loves this)
-Not rolling over (he has done it a few times but I think it was more of a flook than an actual roll over)
-Reaching for things (tries to grab and eat books when I read to him)
-Sucking on his hands (he loves doing this)
-Grabbing his toes
-Recognizes faces
-Finally figured out nursing (yes, four months old and he finally really has it all figured out)
-Falls asleep by holding a blanket and burying his face into a blanket or you as his sucks his pacifier.
-Goes to bed every night at 8pm and is up at 6-6:30am (with many wakings during the night)

he sure is cute though! I hope they figure out his belly issues and he starts to gain some weight. But more importantly I hope he will start sleeping better for you!

Woohoo for him finally figuring out the nursing- that is awesome!!
(You are amazingly patient to stick with it this long).
Glad to hear you got a new doctor. I remember hearing stories before about them misbilling you with the girls.
