So,
Kailyn kept asking Ken and me if we were going to have Family Home Evening. We told her even though dad was home we had already had
FHE on Monday (Ken is home so little that anytime he is home in the evening we normally have
FHE). She then countered with the fact that Dad was not going to be home the coming Monday. Deciding one really can't have too many
FHEs, we had
FHE for the second time this week. Who knows how long they will love
FHE, might as well take advantage of their love of it now.
Kailyn was in charge of treats. She made sugar cookies. Mmmm. We have done pretty good at keeping some variety in our FHE treats but am curious, what kind of treats do you make for your FHE? Do you have a family favorite? I'm running out of ideas and could use some suggestions.

We've also done our fair share of biweekly FHE's-Ally also just can't get enough of them! I'm a boring mom and rarely do a "treat" for FHE but some of our fav's have been strawberry shortcake and we love cracking fresh coconuts open-weird I know!
So did Kailyn really make the cookies, or was she the big helper?
As far as ideas for treats, Linsday D has two great recipes for brownies. (I think the recipes might be on Leisy's blog.) When we were kids we would sometimes do fondue with carmels and then dip apples and pears in. That was my favorite!
Olivia always picks brownies, and John always gets ice cream. We like ice cream sandwiches with vanilla ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies. For Valentine's we make candy-bar valentines to give to each other. For Christmas, we make Rice Krispy treat trees with red hot ornaments. (Those are traditions more than treat ideas, though.) Hot fudge cake is good. And when it's my turn, I usually just pick something from that Kraft Food and Family magazine. How fun to have family night twice in one week!
We like easy stuff...rice krispie treats are a favorite and so is ice cream in all its delightful forms: popsicles, banana splits, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, or just plain ice cream. I really like brownies or peanut butter rice krispies with chocolate on them...YUM. So what are some of your ideas - we could use some too!
Whenever I have no plan for treats, we make Southwestern smores. Melt chocolate chips and marshmallows on a tortilla and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Yummy and so quick and easy.
We need some new ideas too. We do a lot of cupcakes, cookies and ice cream. Nobody is complaining, however ;)
