Online Piano Recital, Come One, Come All!!

So, we were hoping to have some special guests this weekend. The girls have been working on piano pieces to play for their grandpa and grandma. Unfortunately, due to unexpected events in the family, the grandparents will not be able to come after all. So, we are posting their piano recital for all to see. We are hoping for lots of comments (hint, hint), as we will be sharing the comments with the kids. Since Shelly and I are the piano teachers, we don't expect to have a real recital with true applause for awhile.

The following clips are the new songs that the girls have learned over the past 3 weeks. We are SOO proud of the girls and their progress.

Kailyn has learned the following: fermata, eighth notes, ritardando, de capo al fine, double repeats, accents, and THE DAMPER PEDAL!!!

Jordan has just started playing the piano. She is learning the basics, including time signature, measures, counting, quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, dotted half notes, dynamics, repeat signs, etc.

Beautiful! Those songs all sound so familiar- I must have learned with the same books : )
I love it when kids make up their own music.

Kailyn, How pretty! I can't believe you are such a good piano player! Kyla thinks you are wonderful. My favorite was when you played with the Pedal!! It sounded wonderful and you did it so well! You must have practiced a lot to learn to play like this. Keep practicing and we can't wait to hear your next recital!!!
p.s. Did I tell you how beautiful you are? You are getting so big, and prettier every time I see you!!!

Jordan, Awesome job playing the piano!!! I loved your song that you wrote. Did you come up with that all by yourself? I think it was amazing. You are so good with counting and with your notes. Your songs sound really good and it sounds like you know exactly how long to hold each note. I bet you also practiced a lot to be this good! Kyla loves your piano playing also.
Keep up the good work my beautiful red headed niece! ( I love your hair it is so pretty) And your smile!

A shout out to the teachers as well! Great job! We think it is very cool that they can play so well!

Wow, you both sound so good!
Kailyn - I am so impressed at how well you play with both hands together. I liked all of the songs but my favorites were Yankee Doodle and Happy Birthday. I can't believe you are only 7 and using the damper pedal already - you are one talented girl. You sound great!
Jordan - you are so creative to make up your own song. It was very pretty. You do so well at counting evenly. I didn't hear any pauses as you named the notes so you must have practiced a lot for it to sound so smooth. Keep up the good work - you sound terrific!

Wow you are both doing great!
Jordan - I like the way you can sing and play the piano at the same time. That has always been so hard for me.
Kailyn - Your two hands are working so well together. Pretty soon you'll be playing Primary songs!

Keep practicing, girls! You'll get better and better every day!

Wow! You are both doing sooo great. I am very proud of you. It is hard to learn something new and it takes a lot of work. That is a very grown up thing to do! Great job. I taught some of these songs to my students and they were teenagers!

Shelly---how do you teach them? I tried with Emma, but life just got in the way of being consistent and getting her to practice was something else to add to an already busy day. Any suggestions?

I liked your playing. Someday maybe we will come visit you. When I come visit you can I play in your pool?
