Flood Relief Day (September 2013)

We had "The Flood of 1000 Years" last fall.  There were plenty of opportunities to help out.  Ken started the morning helping clean a church that was by the river.  It was probably 8-10 feet above river level but was still damaged a good 3 feet up the walls inside the building.  The parking lot was a slimy mess.  Ken helped clean the mud from the parking lot and the sidewalks, while others worked inside the church.

Ken came home and quickly changed and then took the 3 oldest to the disaster relief center to help sort clothes, move recycling and garbage, put together hygiene kits, and help out any other way necessary.

After helping out until the late afternoon, we decided to treat ourselves to a movie.  We went to Monsters University at the cheap seats.  It was a lot of fun.
