Jordan at School

Jordan started the year out a little rocky. Tears and the word 'hate' were often a part of our morning routine. It took us a little bit to figure things out, but things are so much better. She no longer sits next to the girl that constantly picked on her, and her teacher has started making personalized math problems for Jordan. Jordan has loved the more challenging math and loves sitting next to a more friendly face. She just loves learning and will often play school with the boys or her friends after school.

One day Jordan said she wanted to make a poster about animals and wanted to learn more about them. I found a great website and she created the below poster based on the facts she learned. She was so excited about it that she took it to school the next day for show-n-tell. The teacher wrote me an email that day saying that the class loved learning about the fun and interesting facts about animals.

Jordan got in her head that she wanted to be the student of the month. She worked her hardest all month and went out of her way to try and be a good student. She was so excited for the day that they were going to announce the student of the month. She had her heart set on it. We were all so excited when she actually got it (mom and dad were glad since her little heart was so set on getting it)! Good job Jordan.

The school was having a read-a-thon to raise money. The first week Jordan read like she normally does and recorded the minutes. When she went to school a boy in her class and had read 15 minutes more than her. That's when Jordan's competitive side kicked in. She went into reading overdrive. She read every second she could (I even found her reading as she was jumping on the trampoline). She read the most minutes in her class (smashing all of her competition). Because of all of her hard work she got five extra tickets to put into a drawing for some prizes, truth be told she really wanted a Kindle. Although she didn't get the Kindle she was still super excited to get to eat pizza and ice cream and watch a movie with the winners from the other grades.
