July 4 Weekend, 2014

Ken had to work the Fourth, but was able to join us in the morning for a ward fun run and breakfast. Our fun run was a quick little jog around the lake. After the breakfast I took the kids to our neighborhood pool and we spent the whole day at the pool. The kids didn't want to go home. Luckily, Hannah was good. She either happily hung out in the pool with us or took a nap in her stroller.

The Fun Run
Ken, Kailyn and Hannah walked the opposite way and met us at the end.

If you can't tell the theme of the park is prehistoric.

Caden crossing the bridge.

Chase, Ava (who refused to run the last hundred yards and took a ride in someone's stroller), Shelly, and Kailyn crossing the log bridge.

Jordan ran with some friends, the Eldredges.

Hannah checking out the gorgeous sky.

The day after the Fourth we went to Lake McConaughy. We were originally going to go with some of Ken's cousins but, unfortunately, they had to cancel at the last minute. We were already packed and ready to go, so we decided to go anyway.

Just getting to the water's edge was a workout. It was a long trek through the sand (unless you have a four wheel vehicle that can handle it) .

Not only was it a long walk but it was HOT. I am so glad we bought a sun shade just before going so we could sit in the shade with Hannah, when we weren't swimming.

The kids had fun playing in the water.

Chase loves his goggles and loves looking in the water when he has them on.

The kids had lots of fun playing in the sand.

Caden made us soup for lunch.

Chase is working on a table to eat at.

Jordan is building a beehive.

Kailyn is just going around in circles.

Ava made friends (not the guy pictured) with a few people while we were there. Here she is borrowing one of their inner tubes.
Hannah even took a quick dip.

The water felt good to cool off in.

Loved seeing all the kids play together.

Chase in his goggles he loves so much.

Ava joining the sand castle building.

Chase, Caden and Jordan. (Yes we were the minority there)

Kailyn had fun digging holes.

Her hole is getting pretty deep.

Looks like Ava made another friend.

Hannah was not a fan of the heat and sand (actually she wasn't a fan of the fact that we would not let her eat the sand).

What a nice big sister, to play with Hannah in the water.

Who needs a spa when you can give yourself a mud bath?

Thank goodness it all just rinsed off in the water.

Jordan loved taking Hannah in the water.

Kailyn's hole to China.

It was a long, hot day.

Hannah was so tired, she fell asleep in Ken's arms as we made the trek back to the car.
So I have to say it was a pretty fun day, but honestly I don't ever want to go back. What is not pictured is the bathroom situation. I will spare you the disgusting details, but in short there was only one working toilet (out of three), no toilet paper and tons of used TP all over the floor and other gross things that I just can't even write about. It was just gross, gross, gross.

You described the Cancun toilets perfectly! Lots of cute pictures. Your kids are so grown up, and that was a few months ago.
