Christmas 2013

OK, here is picture overload from Christmas.

Ava's babies sleeping.
We went to see Santa at a local mall. He was the best Santa I have ever seen. Not only did he look the part, but he truly acted the part. He was so kind and very patient with the kids. He seemed to really enjoy listening to what each child wanted. (Kailyn is apparently too old to sit on Santa's lap)

Jordan waiting in line.

Ava is always willing to pose so I can test out my camera.

Ava asked for a princess.

Chase asked for connect four.

Caden asked Santa for a Chess set.

Jordan asked for a watch

This year we decided to open one present on Christmas Eve. We all got BYU shirts.

Each kid decorated a cookie for Santa.

Before opening presents on Christmas day we have a big breakfast. This year we had lots of drink choices (OJ, Eggnog, milk, chocolate milk), bacon, cinnamon rolls, sausage, and fresh fruit.

Present from Grandma and Grandpa Bassett.

The plate Jordan made at school for Ken and me.

Kailyn very excited about her gift from G & G Bassett.

A hand soap dispenser created by Kailyn for Ken and me.

Jordan was so excited about getting a gift for Ken. She picked out a book.

A snowman Caden made at school that he gave to Ken and me.

Ken hates my razor sitting next to the soap in the shower, so this is my new razor holder.

Every year we do a treasure hunt for each of the kids to find their main present. The kids absolutely love the treasure hunts. Here are pictures of the presents the kids found.

Chase kept asking for Connect 4.

Caden was in Chess club this year a long with Kailyn and Jordan. He likes Chess and wanted his own chess set.

Jodan was very excited to get the watch she wanted.

Kailyn was a bit confused by the last clue that sent her outside to the four runner.

Oh, the present is inside the car.

Pretty excited about her new bike.
After everything was opened, we spent the day enjoying our presents.

Happy girl.

The boys playing with their new Legos.

Kailyn making something with her new Weaving Loom. Doesn't she look thrilled about getting her picture taken.

Ava loves her new shoes.

Chase loves his new dress ups.

Yum!

Ava wanted a picture of her food too.

Ava's Preschool

Here we go again. I decided to do a preschool for Ava with a bunch of friends. We have 7 little kiddos in our group. Things have gone really well so far. All of the kids just love it! Ava was quite upset the first time because I was the teacher. She kept saying, "No, I want to go to school." She was quite confused/upset that she was not going to school like her big brothers and sisters. She ended up having a lot of fun. Now every time I pick her up she says, "I like preschool. Preschool is fun." This year we are just doing one day a week, which Ava is quite disappointed about. Ava wishes she could go everyday, like her big brothers and sisters. I was was stacked heavy in the first couple of months (I taught 3 times vs everyone else teaching 1) so that when the baby comes I won't have to worry about teaching. I will teach the very last class in May.
I will have to get a group picture of the kids actually looking at the camera, but here they are learning about the letter A. They did so great!

Daddy Daughter Activities Day Dance

The girls' had a daddy-daughter dance for activity days (church). Ken decided to do dinner with the girls before the dance. They stopped and got some pizza on the way. Ken ordered a Hawaiian (something most in our family love). Jordan thought Ken was kidding when he said he had only gotten Hawaiian (he totally forgot Jordan only likes cheese). The first picture is Jordan's surprise when she opened the box and it really was only Hawaiian. She was a good sport though and just picked off the toppings.

Kailyn with friend Anna W. and Jordan.

The girls had fun learning some new dances...

and taking some goofy pictures.

Chase's Fieldtrip

I had a doctor's appointment, but Ken was around so he got to accompany Chase on his field trip to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, we had had an insane amount of rain that had ruined most of the pumpkin crop and most of the area was super muddy. I think the kids still had fun.

Ava was so excited to tag along.

Chase, Ava and Dane L.

It is so hard to get Chase to look at the camera and smile naturally.

Laney and Ava getting ready to go on the hayride.

Who knew hay bales could be so much fun to run around on?

Ava loves to jump.

Making a train.

Oh no, looks like we lost the caboose to the train. Pictured...Ava, Chase, ?, and Laney.
